Temple President Ricardo Aespuro, a native of Los Angeles eastside communities since 1968, first attended B’nai Emet in 2004 and not only became a member of the Temple, he eventually became a member of the TBE Board. In 2022, he was elected Board President.
“The first time I attended Temple B'nai Emet, I felt I had found my religious home. The members are very welcoming, and Rabbi Pennes was a great teacher,” said Aespuro. “My mission, as we settle into our new home and new Spiritual Leader, is to see the Temple grow and be a vibrant, essential part of the communities we serve and live in.”
Ricardo, who attended both Cal State University at Los Angeles and East Los Angeles College and earned a degree in Business Administration, has been married for over 34 years to his wife Elvia, and their family now includes teenage grandchildren.

Shalom to all!
We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration. We are especially grateful to Elvia Arespuro for generously donating the beautiful orchid corsages given to the mothers who joined us for the service. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Jeanette Dickman
and Elvia Arespuro for the delicious cake that made the day even more special.
By the time this edition of the Clarion reaches you, Shavuot will have passed. We hope everyone enjoyed the meaningful holiday. As we look ahead to June, I'd like to share some historical context about the parades commonly associated with this month. These traditions trace back to ancient Mesopotamia, where "Parades of the Goddesses" featured participants dressed in attire traditionally worn by the opposite gender. As America was founded with principles rooted in biblical wisdom, just as Israel was dedicated to God from its beginning, we are reminded to keep our focus on Him.
We'd love to see you at services! Whether you're a member or a visitor, everyone is welcome. We also invite you to support our temple through donations, tributes, and membership.
If you have questions about becoming a member, please don't hesitate to contact the Temple office at (626) 545-2053.
May HaShem bless us all with good health.
Ricardo Aespuro
