Valerie Cook

Valerie Cook has been an essential part of Temple B’nai Emet for decades, first as an associate Office Manager and then taking on the role of Executive Office Administration. Val – or “our Val” as we lovingly call her, manages every aspect of Temple affairs, including membership, donations and bookkeeping, organizing Board Meetings and support of the Board, coordinating with the Spiritual Leader and his projects related to congregation and community, putting together The Clarion newsletter for members, and facility needs. Really, she does much, much more. She is often the warm, bright, first contact for both members and people who contact TBE. Other times she is the ear of sympathy or the one we share laughter with. She has been at the heart of TBE, and in our hearts, through thick and thin and the Temple is so grateful for her. You will be, too.

The Shul is managed by our Board of Directors. The spiritual vision of the Temple is directed by our Spiritual Leader, Michael Feldman. Our President, Ricardo Aespuro, supports TBE's services and program implementation. The Board of Directors oversees the Temple budget and administration of Temple programs.

a special word from Val

Thankful

August 6th will mark 30 years that I have been blessed to be employed at Temple B’nai Emet. Time truly flies, and when I look back, I am filled with gratitude for all that these years have given me.

I have been so fortunate to meet and work alongside so many wonderful people. Some are no longer with us, and their passing is still very difficult to accept. I carry their memory with me, and I continue to do my best each day in their honor.

Rachel De Merit and Abraham “Abe” Baron took a chance on me and believed I could do this job when they hired me, and I will always be grateful for that faith. I had the privilege of sitting across from Rachel in the office, and I treasured every moment of it. She taught me so much during the eight years we worked together, and I miss her deeply. I hope I continue to make her proud.

To Sandy and Jon Olesen and Luba Gelmis, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and friendship. You have always been there whenever I needed help with temple business, and I truly appreciate you more than words can say.

I honestly could not ask for a more meaningful or fulfilling place to work.
